You can walk down to the Strand which is a 20 mile walk- and bike- way which goes from the South Bay to Santa Monica and out on to the wide beach. Or you can walk down to Hermosa Beach pier and experience the night life.
If you have kids and really have your act together, you can go on the city of Hermosa Beach website and put your kids in a weeklong beach, surf of volleyball camp in the summer which let’s you have that sans child time.
